Anti-Racism Statement

St Mark’s is committed to work to become a truly anti racist school for the benefit of every member of the school community.

Our Commitment to Anti-Racism

At St Mark’s, we are committed to creating a community where every person is valued, respected and treated with dignity. Inspired by our Catholic faith and our belief in relationships rooted in love, we are determined to challenge racism and prejudice in all its forms. Anti-racism is a whole-school priority, embedded within our leadership, curriculum, staff development, pastoral provision and student voice. We educate our students and staff to recognise and challenge racism, promote greater racial literacy and develop the confidence to be active allies. We listen to the experiences and views of our students and families and use these to shape our ongoing work. We celebrate the diversity of our community through our curriculum, cultural celebrations, careers programme and wider enrichment opportunities, ensuring that all students see themselves reflected and valued in school. Our approach combines education, prevention and appropriate action when incidents occur. We continually review our practice and use feedback and data to identify areas for further improvement.

We are proud to share our work with colleagues across our Trust and wider educational community. Our anti-racism journey is ongoing, and we remain committed to learning, listening and taking action to ensure that every member of the St Mark’s community feels a strong sense of belonging.
