A fantastic 87% of students achieved at least 5 standard passes (grade 4+) including English and maths, and 76% achieved at least 5 strong passes (grade 5+) including English and maths. Many students achieved all 7 - 9 grades, but we are equally proud of the number of students who have made exceptional progress over the past 5 years at St. Mark’s. Across all measures, our students have significantly exceeded both local and national averages.  

We celebrate their achievements and look forward to welcoming the majority of our students into the Sixth Form in September.

A parent guide to Attainment 8 and Progress 8

Attainment 8 and Progress 8 are two of the most important ways that a school's performance is measured.

Attainment 8 = based on students' attainment (the grades achieved) in their eight subjects at GCSE.

Progress 8 = the progress made from the end of year 6, when the Key Stage 2 SATs in reading and maths are taken.

St. Mark’s Progress 8 figure has been above 1 since 2018 (well above average) which has resulted in St Mark’s being ranked as one of the highest performing non-selective schools in the country. This means that your child will make greater progress than if they attended most other non-selective schools in the country. At St. Mark’s, we are committed to ensuring that all students achieve their potential and make exceptional progress, and we are particularly proud of the progress that our disadvantged students make. 

Please note: there is no Progress 8 measure nationally for 2025 - 2026, but this will return for the 2026/7 academic year once Key Stage 2 prior attainment data is available again.

The A Level results were excellent this year, and a number of students achieved all A*/A grades. We are always so proud of the number of students who have made outstanding progress and exceeded their target grades. This achievement reflects the hard work of our students, our commitment to academic excellence, and the unwavering support of our exceptional staff.

Over 95% of our students have been successful in gaining places at universities of their choice. The majority of students will be attending Russell Group and other top universities including Oxford, Durham, Imperial, Southampton, LSE, Liverpool, Manchester, Bath, Leeds, Warwick, Sheffield, Exeter, Bristol, Nottingham, King’s College, Loughborough and Royal Holloway. 

They will be studying a range of courses including Medicine, Pharmacology, Law, Engineering, Classical Archaeology, Physics, Computer Science, Accounting and Finance, Politics, Media, Music, Geology, Psychology, Sport Science, Sociology, Criminology, Journalism, Nursing, Architecture, English, History and Classical Civilisation.

Other students have accepted places onto excellent apprenticeship programmes, and some have exciting gap year plans. We congratulate all of them on their excellent examination results, and wish them every happiness in the future.
