Behaviour

At St Mark’s, our approach to behaviour is rooted in our Catholic faith and our mission statement where relationships rooted in love. We have high expectations for behaviour, conduct and attitudes, which are understood and consistently upheld across our school community. We expect students to treat others with dignity and respect and to contribute positively to a calm, orderly and purposeful environment.

We take bullying, racism and prejudice-based incidents very seriously. We respond swiftly and appropriately to concerns, ensuring that incidents are followed up and resolved effectively. Students are encouraged to speak up when something is wrong, and student voice is used to inform and strengthen our practice. Our students should feel safe, cared for and confident that adults will listen and act.

In lessons, students are expected to demonstrate strong attitudes to learning, engage actively with their work and participate positively. Staff establish an environment where students focus, think hard and make progress, with high expectations for effort, conduct and participation. Through consistency, strong relationships and high standards, we seek to create a culture in which every student can flourish.
