Year Assemblies
Our Year Assembly Programme is a central part of life at St Mark’s and reflects our commitment to developing the whole person through faith, character and opportunity. Carefully planned across the academic year, assemblies bring pupils together to reflect, celebrate, learn and grow as a community.
Each year group follows a thoughtfully sequenced programme that explores themes relevant to pupils’ lives and experiences at different stages of their journey through school. Themes include belonging and inclusion, wellbeing and safety, leadership, enrichment, careers education, Catholic Social Teaching and important issues affecting young people both locally and globally. Assemblies encourage pupils to reflect on their values, develop confidence and resilience, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
We are particularly proud of the way our assembly programme responds to the needs of our pupils and helps foster a culture where every young person feels known, valued and supported. Assemblies such as our Invisible Barriers programme help raise awareness of challenges that some pupils may face, including young caring responsibilities, financial hardship and wellbeing concerns, while also encouraging pupils to seek support and look out for one another.
Student leadership is also an important part of the programme. Through student-led assemblies, pupils have opportunities to share their voices, lead collective reflection and speak confidently about issues that matter to them and their community.
Together, our assemblies help create a strong sense of belonging and shared identity at St Mark’s, reinforcing the values of compassion, dignity, service and inclusion that sit at the heart of our school.
